Winteringham Council Noticeboard

New Noticeboard for Parish Council

At the beginning of August, Harry Wells completed this super new Parish Council noticeboard to replace the previous one, which had seen better days!

The new one is built from French oak, and is conveniently sited beside Winteringham’s butcher’s shop.

Harry would like to thank Ken Jacobs who helped him fix the noticeboard in position.

The Latest Meeting:

May 2008 Press Report

The Annual Parish Assembly was held in Winteringham on Tuesday 6th May 2008.

The Chair of the Council, Councillor Mrs Jackie Bateman gave a report on the year on behalf of the Parish Council. North Lincolnshire Councillor Alan Smith gave a short report and a discussion took place around matters raised by members of the public.

At the close of this meeting the Annual Parish Council Meeting was held. Councillor Bateman was in the chair and she welcomed fellow councillors and members of the public.

The election of officers took place and it was unanimously agreed that Councillor Bateman should continue as chairman. Councillor Nigel Hill will be vice chair.

The minutes of the 2007 Annual Meeting had been circulated and the Councillors agreed that these were a true record. Matters arising were discussed.

The ordinary business of the meeting began with the minutes of the April 2008 meeting and the matters arising from these minutes.

The Clerk presented the monthly financial report. Councillors agreed that the invoices received should all be passed.

The accounts have been audited by the internal auditor.  The Councillors were in agreement that the Annual Governance Statement could be signed by the Councillor Bateman ready for the External Audit.

Highway matters were discussed.  Existing problems and a number of new issues will be brought to the attention of Highways Maintenance Dept.

The Clerk reported that just one new Planning Application had been received. This was discussed at length and the Councillors comments will be forwarded immediately to the Planning Dept.

The Clerk reported that she had chased up the application for a grant towards the cost of new Football Goal Posts and hopeful a reply should be received very shortly.

Due to mindless vandalism the fencing around the Play Area has had to be repaired yet again. The dustbin had been set alight and this had resulted in damage to the street light on the car park.

The Clerk will contact Wicksteed Leisure to request that a check is made on the distance between the bottom of the roundabout and the floor.

The Phone Box in the centre of the village has suffered from vandalism and this will be reported to B.T. along with a request that the box is refurbished as it is in need of cleaning and painting.

The Village Newsletter has been distributed recently and a number of compliments have been received. The Editor was thanked for producing a varied and interesting issue.

The correspondence received was read through and the Councillors instructed the Clerk on any actions which needed to be undertaken.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Tuesday 3rd June.
