Venture is a new Art and Craft retail outlet based at Barton's adult education centre at Providence House. It's currently open on a Tuesday and Friday from 10am to 3pm and is run by volunteers. The outlet showcases learners' work from adult education classes across North Lincolnshire. Items for sale include pottery, paintings, handcrafted cards and much more. But in order to extend Venture's opening hours, North Lincolnshire Council is appealing to local people who have some spare time that they want to fill to come forward and consider helping out at the venue. Cllr Pauline Carlile, Cabinet Member for Adult Services said: "Venture sells work produced by local learners in the Arts and Craft areas, so people can see items such as paintings, hand made cards, pottery, bobbin lace and much more up for sale at very reasonable prices. It's a great place to visit if someone is searching for a special or unique gift for someone. "What's more Venture showcases the hard work and achievements of adult learners. People are never too old to learn something new. And like with an adult education course, volunteering some time at Venture could be a great way of learning new skills and meeting new people." Anyone interested in volunteering time to help out at Venture, or anyone wanting to find out more can contact Kimberley Nutt, Business Development and Marketing Officer on 01724 407975 or email 'kimberley.nutt@northlincs.gov.uk.
Look out for the Christmas Craft Fair taking place in December at the Barton Centre. North Lincolnshire Council's Adult Education Service provides daytime and evening courses for anyone aged 16 and above. The service provides an assortment of courses, from computer courses through to calligraphy. There are four main centres that serve the North Lincolnshire community. And these include three purpose built state of the art facilities at Ashby Link Adult Education and Multimedia Centre, Barton Adult Education Centre and Brumby Adult Community Learning Centre. There are also facilities in Brigg. |
