Winteringham: “One of the most beautiful of all English villages” - C E Trimmer

Above and below: after the wettest May to July on record, early August brought a hot sunny spell, and the sight of combines working flat out to get the harvest safely in. Here is just one of the many at work on Winteringham’s fields, this one in Seeds Field on Hewde Lane.

These two superb views of Winteringham were taken from Whitton by Ken in mid-May 2007. They emphasise that even in the 21st century CE Trimmer’s word’s are as justified now as they were in 1912!

Harry ‘bagged’ this deer on the Humber bank on Sunday 20th May, very early in the morning!

Ever looked closely at Winteringham doors? There are some wonderful examples throughout the village including these doors in the barn at West Farm (above) and at Winteringham Fields (below).

Ken spotted this on Sunday 21st January 2007, and if the old saying is true, then there must be a pot of gold somewhere near Cliff Road .... Or perhaps the pot of gold is the village itself?

Winteringham’s Famous Geese ...
Two wonderful photos taken in late January by Harry of Winteringham’s famous geese, as they fly in and feed in Winterton Road with two Humber dramatic backdrops. The grace of the Humber Bridge is a contrast to the different kind of grace of the birds in flight.

It may only be March 11th when Ken took this wonderful shot of dawn over the Humber Bridge from School Road, but a beautifully warm spring day is in prospect ... time to get the mower oiled, the spade shiny, and to look at the instructions on those packets of seeds!
